There is only one destination where tea is grown commercially in the United States - The Charleston Tea Garden!

It is the only tea garden in North America where you can see hundreds of thousands of tea bushes stretching out acre after acre for almost as far as the eye can see! There are 127 acres located on Wadmalaw Island in South Carolina.

The Bigelow family, William Barclay Hall and the staff of the garden stand ready to bring you the tea experience of your life. We will board their trolley and tour the Tea Garden along with a stop at their greenhouse. We will also see inside the processing plant where the tea leaves are washed, chopped, heated and dried. We will see the whole process of tea-making at the Tea Garden.

The three main types of tea are differently processed versions of the same Camellia sinensis leaves.

Before we leave, we will visit their wonderful gift shop where you can take some American tea home, and enjoy complimentary tea tastings too!

After our visit and tour, we will enjoy lunch together at The Tomato Shed Restaurant.
