The Charleston Museum is celebrating its 250th Anniversary this year! Founded in 1773, The Charleston Museum - America's First Museum - has been discovering, preserving, interpreting, celebrating, and sharing history through their vast collections. Its exhibitions are designed to inspire curiosity and conversation about the South Carolina Lowcountry and the stories that make us who we are.

We will also visit the Joseph Manigault House. This home was built in 1803, and reflects the urban lifestyle of a wealthy, rice-planting family and the enslaved African Americans who lived there. A striking spiral staircase accents the impressive central hall, and many of the rooms are restored to their original color schemes. Outside, a classical Gate Temple overlooks a period garden and the locations of adjacent historical outbuildings.
